Saturday 17th November saw a gathering of a school community spanning the last 50 years as Siddal Moor brought together staff, students and governors to celebrate, share stories and reminisce.
With Mayor Zaman in attendance to unveil the plaque kindly donated by Heywood Rotary Club it was a wonderful start to the celebrations. Cakes made by present staff were served up amid a vast display of photos, trophies and memorabilia reaching back as far as Heywood Grammar School. With students past and present providing entertainment and tours of the building, there was much to discuss about the changes Siddal Moor has seen - and those that are yet to come with the planned extension in 2019.
The school was pleased to welcome the first two Head Boys, David Cross and John Heywood and also some of the original staffing team including Mavis Taylor and Mike and Eleanor Law. Current Head Boy and Girl Robert and Mia gave their speeches aside Head of School Simon White and everyone agreed that the building looked fantastic set up with numerous displays, decorations and memory boards. The morning has received much positive feedback from those in attendance, with stories of years gone by being relived for all to share.
