Child Development Course Overview:

This is a GCSE qualification
Students will learn about factors affecting how a child develops, from before they are conceived, throughout the pregnancy, and continuing through their first five years. This will include physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.
Students will also study the importance of toys, books and technology, feeding and health issues, general safety and the roles other people play in supporting a developing child.
Students complete two pieces of course work and a terminal exam.

Health and Social Care Course Overview:

This is a vocational qualification
The course provides basic knowledge, skills and understanding which can be utilised in a care setting or as the basis for further education or training. The work completed relates to health, social care and early years care settings.
Students will study different types of care services and the range of care practitioners who provide these services. Units of work relating to service users’ rights, effective communication, first aid and creative activities are studied over the two year period.
